Location

AMARA is situated near the ancient royal kingdom of Amathus, one of Cyprus’s most significant archaeological sites. This revered city kingdom dates back to antiquity and its legendary founder King Cyniras. According to a version of the Ariadne and Theseus myth by Ancient Greek philosopher Plutarch, this was the place where Theseus left the pregnant Ariadne. She later passed away during childbirth and was buried in a sacred tomb at Amathousa.
